Five of the eight wood-engravings Gwen made in 1912 have a religious theme, influenced by Eric Gill's style and intense religiosity. It is interesting that the granddaughter of Charles Darwin should make religious images.

Gwen's father, Sir George Darwin, died in December 1912.
